Gavin Newsom supports:
- abortion throughout pregnancy, and there need not be any physical problem with mother or child – this is not about the ‘hard cases’; (See Justice Byron White’s comments in Roe – ‘for any social reason, or no reason in particular’ (Roe, 221)
- California Government paying for all abortions, even for non-residents (Newsom public statement on May 31, 2019);
- refuses to enforce California’s existing born-alive infant protection act, which states if a child is born alive in a late-term abortion, that he or she would get the same care as any other child in that circumstance (CA Health and Safety Code Sec. 123435);
- advocates the use of medicine to intentionally kill depressed and ill suicidal patients, without their having any psychological counseling.
