Statement of Purpose

California ProLife Council’s Jane B. Thompson Youth Oratory Contest strives to promote the ability of high school juniors and seniors to share their pro-life views with others.  Although speaking ability is important, this contest also seeks to help teens organize and express their pro-life views.  We also strive to give the contestants an opportunity to meet other pro-life teens.

 About

California ProLife Council’s Jane B. Thompson Oratory Contest is held each year in conjunction with the National Right to Life Convention and NRLC itself. High School Juniors and Seniors from throughout the state will research, write, and present a pro-life speech. They compete locally and then go on to the regional, and then state Finals. The State Champion represents California at the National competition at the National Right to Life Convention. Only fresh and timely facts on abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, or embryonic stem cell research can be used. The speech should address one of these topics directly.

Contest Details

The speech is to be 5 – 7 minutes in length, and must be written and presented by any high school junior or senior at a Regional Competition. The 1st place winner of each Regional will compete the other finalists at the State Finals in the State Capitol onSaturday, April 24th. The 1st place winner that day will represent California ProLife Council at the National Right To Life Convention on Saturday, Jul 11th. We will post details of Regional Competitions as they become available.
Please review the resources below to learn more about how you can participate in this excited event!
